
If you entered Slovakia legally and you are not granted residency, you are authorised to stay in Slovakia until one month after the revocation of a crisis situation.
The following persons can enter Slovakia via its external border (border with Ukraine as well as air borders for flights from outside the Schengen Area):
- persons related to a Slovak citizen or to a temporary/permanent resident in Slovakia, i.e. spouse, minor child, parent of a minor child. This fact can be proved e.g. by a birth certificate, marriage certificate (if you do not have the original, a plain copy is enough). If the document is only in a foreign language, it is necessary to provide a translation (unofficial translation is sufficient),
- persons with a valid residence in Slovakia, who can prove a valid residence permit, residence registration certificate or are holders of a national visa issued by the embassy of the Slovak Republic, the entry of third-country nationals for the purpose of attending nursery or study at a primary, secondary or higher education institution in Slovakia and demonstrating confirmation of this fact is considered a valid residence according to this point,
- residents of Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea or Taiwan
- cross-border workers, permanently or temporarily residing in neighbouring border areas of Ukraine within 30 km from an open border crossing to the territory of the Slovak Republic and who have an employment relationship, a similar employment relationship or a place of work (e.g. for self-employed persons) in the territory of the Slovak Republic within 30 km by road from an open border crossing to the territory of the Slovak Republic and hold a certificate of such performance of work,
- persons pertaining to certain categories of the PHA Decree (e.g. transiting persons, persons providing care of close relatives),
- holders of an exemption in accordance with the PHA Decree. These persons must have a negative result of the RT-PCR test for COVID-19 not older than 72 hours when entering the territory of the Slovak Republic. In justified cases, the PHA may grant an exemption from this obligation.
Quarantine
When you arrive in Slovakia after you visited only EU countries, Island, Norway, Lichtenstein, Great Britain or Switzerland within the 14 days before you arrive, you must self-isolate at home or in a quarantine accommodation facility.
You may stop self-isolating:
- by obtaining a negative result of the RT-PCR test for COVID-19 disease
- in the case of an asymptomatic course of isolation by completing its 14th day
- in the case of an asymptomatic course of isolation of children up to ten yearsof age by terminating the home isolation of persons living in the same household
When you arrive in Slovakia after you visited other countries than EU countries, Island, Norway, Lichtenstein, Great Britain or Switzerland within the 14 days before you arrive, you must self-isolate at home or in a quarantine accommodation facility.
You may stop self-isolating:
- by obtaining a negative result of the RT-PCR test for COVID-19 disease
- in the case of an asymptomatic course of isolation of children up to ten years of age by terminating the home isolation of persons living in the same household
All persons living in the same household must self-isolate with you. They may stop self-isolating when all members of the same household stop self-isolating.
Steps to take when you arrive
- Register at http://korona.gov.sk/ehranicabefore you arrive or at the border, at the latest,
- During your stay in the territory of the Slovak Republic, if requested by the Slovak police, you must provide proof of your mandatory registration,
- You need to get tested for COVID-19 at the earliest on the 8th day of your self-isolation at home or in a quarantine accommodation centre,
- Children younger than 10 years of age must get tested for COVID-19 when requested by the competent Regional Public Health Office or by a paediatrician (medical practitioner specialising in children and their diseases) with whom the child has an agreement on the provision of healthcare.

- notify your placement in isolation by telephone or by electronic means to your doctor or paediatrician. If you do not have a doctor in Slovakia, you must notify the locally competent doctor of the self-governing region
