National visa or information for those, who files application for granting temporary residence at consulate

A third country national may be granted a national visa, if:

1. it is necessary in relation with the granting a residence permit in the Slovak Republic
2. he/she is older than 15 years and is accepted for language education at a language school in the extent of minimum 25 lessons per week
3. it is necessary in order to fulfil the obligations of the Slovak Republic following from international treaties
4. it is in the interest of the Slovak Republic
5. a family member of a foreigner who was granted asylum or subsidiary protection, if he/she does not threaten the state security or public order

Application for granting of national visa is filled at a consulate.

General documents:

1. Filed in application form
2. Valid travel document
3. One photo of size 3 x 3.5 cm
4. Document proving the purpose of residence (e.g. written notification of police department that temporary residence has been granted)
5. Health insurance for at least the duration of the national visa

Student of language school also submits to application these documents:

1. Documents on accommodation in the SR during study at language school
2. Financial resources

Applicant also submits to application for granting of national visa in connection with filing application for granting residence at police department these documents:

1. Full application for granting residence, which must be filled in Slovakia (after control documents will be returned to applicant)
2. Photocopies of all documents to application of granting residence
3. Documents on accommodation at least the duration of the national visa; document is not required, if relevant document of accommodation in the SR submitted to the application for granting residence covers the period of validity of national visa
4. Financial resources for at least the duration of the national visa; document is not required, if relevant document submitted to the application for granting residence covers the period of validity of national visa
5. Proof of transport to Slovakia

Family member of a foreigner who was granted asylum or subsidiary protection is obliged to submit to application:

1. Valid travel document
2. Document confirming his/her family relationship
3. Proof of dependence

Documents must be submitted in original.

Fees:

1. application for granting of national visa, if it is required in connection with the ID card taking – 9,50 EURO
2. application for granting of national visa, if it is required for fulfilling the obligations of the Slovak Republic following from international treaties, if it is in the interest of the SR or it is required in connection with the granting a residence in the SR – 33 EURO
3. application for granting of national visa in connection with the study at language school – free of charge

Fee is paid in EURO in cash at consulate.

Consulate may grant national visa only after prior statement of the Ministry of Interior.

A national visa shall be granted for residence longer than three months, maximum one year. National visa may be granted:

1. for 90 days and two enties, if a national visa is to be granted in relation with ID card taking or granting a residence in Slovakia
2. for the duration of the language education at a language school, maximum until 31. July of the relevant school term
3. for the time necessary, if national visa is to be granted in other cases
